Abstract

Tourism is a significant contributor to the economic growth of Sarawak. However, the sustainability in the long run depends on digital innovation, employee well-being and information sharing. This study examines the impact of digital platform utilisation (DPU) and employee well-being (EWB) towards sustainable work behavior (SWB) in Kuching, Sarawak with a focus on the mediating effect of information sharing (IS). Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model, the research uses a quantitative approach through 284 questionnaires filled by tourism employees. SPSS was used for regression and mediation analyses. The results show that DPU has a direct positive impact on SWB, and EWB does not affect directly to SWB while significantly intercedes IS which in turn contributes to sustainability impacts. IS completely mediates the relation between EWB and SWB, whereas it partially mediates DPU–SWB. It means that sustainable tourism is not simply an issue of leveraging the adoption of technology and employee well-being, but also strong information sharing to connect across organizational. The significance of this research lies in presenting theoretical contributions on the confirmation of IS as an influential mediator in tourism sustainability development and policy implications for Sarawak tourism stakeholder.
