Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of digitalization on gender-based employment opportunities in Indragiri Hilir, Indonesia. Digital transformation provides new opportunities, but it also has the potential to create a gap in employment opportunities between men and women. With a quantitative approach and SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) analysis, data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to 150 respondents from various sectors. The population of this study includes all workers involved in the digitalization process in Indragiri Hilir, with a randomly and balanced sample between men and women. The results of the study show that digitalization provides greater opportunities for men than women, with education, digital skills, and access to technology being obstacles for women. Female respondents also reported social stigma and challenges that affect their participation in the digital sector. This study provides new insights into gender dynamics in the context of digitalization in underserved areas and recommends further research to explore policy interventions that can improve women's access to digital employment opportunities.
