APPLICATION OF STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING IN IMPROVING INTERPERSONAL SKILL

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of student centered learning method in interpersonal skills subject to gain self-esteem, listening skills, and emotional intelligence of NSC Polytechnic Surabaya students. This research was conducted by giving student centered learning method in interpersonal skills subject to the Polytechnic NSC Surabaya students. Researchers measured the level of self-esteem, listening skills, and emotional intelligence of students before and after attending lectures with the method of direct observation of the object of research, interviews, and questionnaires. The first stage, the researcher learning plan with student centered learning method that will be followed by students based on learning achievements. The second stage, learnig process on interpersonal skills subjects were given to students. At the beginning of the lecture, the pretest were given.  The third stage, at the end of the lecture, the post tests were conducted and the researcher evaluates the results of the lecture. Giving interpersonal skills lectures to the Polytechnic NSC Surabaya students has an  influence on improving self-esteem, listening skills, and emotional intelligence which chosen as indicator  of interpersonal skill.
